Our Superfood 65® range contains seven fantastic recipes, each with their own provenance claims and beneficial superfoods.
Within your range is the Small Breed Angus Beef with Carrot, Green Beans, Cauliflower, Tomato and Courgette. But what makes this recipe so super for dogs? This article provides an overview.
Why do small breed dogs require a specific recipe?
Small breed dogs have a faster metabolic rate than large breeds. This is linked to them having a greater ratio of body surface area to body weight. This means that they have much higher energy requirements per kilogram of body weight, and therefore they need food with a higher calorie content that is nutrient-dense.
Anatomically, small breeds also have smaller stomachs, so they aren’t able to consume large meals. Due to this, it’s important to feed a small breed diet specifically designed to support their nutritional requirements to gain everything they need in a smaller portion.
Why Angus Beef?
Angus beef has a range of benefits to small breed dogs. It is an extremely palatable and highly digestible protein source. A great source of iron and zinc, which is essential for growth metabolism, contains B12 vitamins to help the nervous system, brain function and growth of blood cells. Due to Angus Cattle producing marbled meat, this type of meat contains Omega-3 fatty acids that contribute to dogs’ overall health and well-being.
