Pet Anxiety month is coming up in October when we see pets struggle with fireworks and festivities. This nationwide campaign aims to educate pet owners on the signs of anxiety in cats and dogs.
The launch of this campaign follows research from the People’s Dispensary for Sick Animals (PDSA), in which it was revealed that more than half of veterinary professionals believe they have seen an increase in dog behavioural issues in the past couple of years.
Anxiety in cats and dogs
In the UK, 82% of dogs and 89% of cats are reported to be “scared” of something. This can include anything from travelling, meeting new people, going to the vets, living in a stressful environment and loud noises, as well as a wide range of other factors. Almost half of owners don’t know where to turn, resorting to Google for help.
Here at Paws Pet Food, we recognise that pets can be susceptible to stresses and anxiety. This can be due to biological or psychological reasons. As part of your Functional Treat range we offer a calming recipe with a variety of benefits to help stress and anxiety such as:
- Lavender- which is thought to help soothe irritating skin conditions which may cause pets to become stressed
- Camomile- is meant to be naturally calming and thought to help calm an upset stomach
- Priobotic- helps to stabilise and stimulate the growth of advantageous gut flora
- No Added Grain- some pets are intolerant to grains, this can lead to skin irritation, poor health or digestive discomfort which may cause anxiety and stress reactions. This recipe is formulated to be Grain Free
